The Parish Theatre
How do you write a musical about brain surgery? With humor, wit and compassion; that's how. This quirky, autobiographical work by award-winning composer William Finn (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee) is nothing short of wonderful. At the center of the action is Gordon, a talented but neurotic would-be Broadway composer forced to make a living writing what he considers to be inconsequential ditties for a children's TV show. When he finds himself in the hospital facing a
life-threatening condition, he begins to re-evaluate life, love, mortality and the healing power of art. Throughout his ordeal Gordon learns to appreciate life's precious moments and finds new inspiration to compose the songs he wants to write. Don't be frightened off by the subject matter; in no way is this General Hospital, the Musical!
